The Digital Darkroom
Digital editing takes photography a step further by increasing control and options. A photograph can become what was intended by removing unwanted parts or objects or....cheating nature a bit. Good photography is expensive for a reason. It not only requires a talented and skilled photographer; a good product scene requires an experienced stylist and appropriate models to stage the scene .

The image of the girl by the stairway (below, left) was used for a catalog cover (the purse is actually the focus). This client is a small company with a small budget. What she doesn't lack is imagination and drive. So she did her own photography and I edited the images to get them where we needed them to go.

The image on the right is the original. When I received the image the cover had not been conceived but I could see a diamond in the rough. I've been doing architectural rendering for years....and yes....that sometimes requires a lot of digital rendering. So I gave this one a try. The final image on the left took about 3 hours to acheive. And we had a cover.
